Program Services and Activities

All members have access to our Program Services below:
Lunch and Learn events, in collaboration with the Foster City Library. We share lunch and have lively presentations and discussions with our presenters on topics of interest to our members. Past programs included speakers who addressed subjects related to health, safety and the law, medicare, international travel and successful aging principles - all from the perspective of our senior community.
Afternoon Teas and Ice Cream Socials which are open to members and guests, with informal participative discussions.
Special Events including field trips to museums, local casinos and local points of interest.
Mutual Interest Groups are an important part of the Village. We support our members in forming and sustaining mutual interest groups, whether it’s a walking or exercise group, a bridge group, Mexican Train players, Bocce players, a book club, local theater or people wanting to connect to share holidays and activities of their choice.
“Preferred Vendors” are local professional and commercial service providers - from hairdressers to electricians and plumbers, care agencies, and contractors who can install safety features in your home. They’ve been recommended by other Village members, and reviewed to be sure they are appropriately licensed and bonded. Many of our vendors have agreed to provide special senior pricing to our Village members. As a Village member, you’ll have access to this list, and we'll invite you to recommend your favorite candidates for the list.

Full members have access to the above Program Services in addition to our Volunteer Provided Services, which include:

  • Transportation To and from medical appointments, grocery shopping, assistance with errands. Area of service includes San Mateo County as well as Stanford medical and VA in Palo Alto.
  • Light Home Maintenance We can change a light bulb so you’re not climbing up a ladder. Assist with cleaning up the yard. Assemble IKEA purchases. Work the garden. And help with those other chores and household maintenance activities that it’s too much of a chore to do yourself.
  • Other Assistance Technical assistance for computer issues and similar problems.
Organizing your paperwork, including sorting, filing (and shredding), so you’re not overwhelmed.
  • Absence Services If you’re out or out of commission for a few days, volunteers can water the plants, take in the mail, run errands, and more.
Walking or chores companion, when you just need company and moral support to get it done.
